Brothers
A number of things come to my mind when I read this scripture. The soil represents the state of our hearts and there are stones that need to be removed in order for our spiritual roots to go deep. Without deep roots we cannot stand when the trials of life and the attacks of the enemy come, and they will.
I am also mindful of the “flash in the pan”. When we are new Christians we get very excited and want to be used in any way for the cause of Christ. As time goes on we get easily distracted, get discouraged by persecution or haven’t spent time in the Word, Prayer and Fellowship to deepen our roots
The thing that haunts me the most about this scripture is the fear that people will not secure their salvation for eternity.
What I mean by that is this, there was a time in my life where I had lots of head knowledge about Jesus Christ. I knew he was born of the Virgin Mary, He was the Son of God. Died on the Cross and Rose from the Dead.
The problem with many of us is that this knowledge never drops deep enough to take root in our hearts where we acknowledge that He died on the cross for my sins personally. When we do, it goes from head knowledge to a heart experience which begins a relationship with your Savior and Lord.
This is the one thing in your life that you don’t want to leave to chance. Trust me.
Better yet, Trust Christ.
