Men,
Each parable that Jesus spoke is full of truth and value in it’s own right. In fact, He reinforced this when He said in Matthew 13:34-35 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; He did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”
These parables aren’t just nice stories. They are meant to enlighten us with the knowledge of God. They are meant for us to understand deep and transformative truths about God and how He relates to all areas of our lives. Today’s passage is a reminder of the significance of where we are going in the days ahead. The Parable of The Sower (Matthew 13m Mark 4, Luke 8)
Jesus would use parables to convey a significant message about God. Something massive in scope where a parable would help our human minds comprehend it. So it is with the Parable of The Sower. In this one passage He speaks to the role our heart has on our ability to understand God. The four conditions of the soil illustrate the four possible conditions of our heart and the direct bearing each condition has on our ability to grasp deep spiritual truths and connections in the Word of God.
In today’s passage Jesus states the significance of the Sower parable. He has just delivered it to the crowd and His disciples are asking Him to explain it. He tells them this parable is the key to understanding a deeper meaning in the parables. All of these parables can be traced back to The Parable of The Sower. In one way or another they all speak to the impact the condition of our heart can have, not only on our understanding, but on the course of our lives.
Tomorrow we will begin to unpack this parable and the four conditions of our heart. In the journey ahead you will learn a massive truth about how we understand God. It has the potential to change the way you look at your life.
