Brothers and Sisters,
The disciples couldn’t see it in the midst of that grim day at Calvary, but Jesus had shown them the path to Hope. There would be another side to the fear and anxiety that was creeping into their hearts. As Jesus hung there on the cross all their confidence waned. Their futures appeared dashed upon the rocks.
However, they needed only to understand and trust in the words of The Sheperd. He had told them of the Hope of renewal to be found in His hands, on the other side of Saturday. Their time of grief and anxiety would end and there on that other side would be Jesus. The Promised One standing in victory. The One who promised healing and redemption.
Today, like then, we stand in the midst of uncertainty and darkness. We feel isolated wondering about our futures and wringing our hands over health and finances. Tomorrow seems unknowable.
Take heart, Now as then, Hope awaits us. The Shepherd is near, His hand is on the flock and He is guiding us to the other side.
Be at Peace Brothers and Sisters
“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.” John 20:19-20
